Francisco González-Espresati joins Integración Tecnológica Empresarial as Head of Defence Strategy
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Francisco González-Espresati Amián as the new Head of Defence Strategy at Integración Tecnológica Empresarial, following a distinguished career in the Spanish Air and Space Force. With more than 46 years of service, he has held key positions within the military, his most recent role being Chief of the Air Combat Command (MACOM), where he led national and international air defence operations until 10 September 2024.

In his new role at ITE, González-Espresati will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s defense strategy, leveraging his vast experience to drive the growth and strengthening of the company’s capabilities in the defense and security space. Among its functions will be the identification of strategic opportunities, the development of alliances with government entities and the supervision of projects of high technical complexity in the defense sector.
Francisco González-Espresati has a solid background that includes higher education at the General Air Academy, where he finished in 1984, and a series of courses taught by prestigious international institutions such as NATO.
He also conducted training in the United States in areas such as electronic warfare, operational planning, and defense resource management. In addition, he is a fighter pilot, with more than 3,000 flight hours, 2,000 of them in the EF-18 Hornet and has experience as a pilot instructor.
In possession of 15 military decorations and 5 distinctions of merit for peace operations, he has carried out both operational and strategic functions, highlighting his first steps in the 11th Wing in Valencia and the 15th Wing in Zaragoza and his participation in the NATO Headquarters in Lisbon and the NATO CAOC-8. In 2016, he assumed command of the Torrejón Air Base, and in 2021 he was appointed head of MACOM.
Air and Space Army
Throughout his career in the Air and Space Force, González-Espresati has held high-level roles. In his last phase as lieutenant general, he held the positions of head of MACOM, responsible for the training of the force and support to the force and the preparation and deployment of air units in both national and international missions. The position of commander of the Aerospace Operational Command responsible for Spain’s Air Defence and the surveillance, monitoring and control of immediate outer space, which included the supervision of the security and external protection of these assets. And that of commander of the Joint Force Air Component (JFAC), responsible for planning and conducting aerospace operations in the event of a crisis or conflict.
