ITE Completes Its Second Round of Aircraft Inspection Tests in Joint Project with IAG
In 2024, International Airlines Group (IAG) and the Drone Solutions Business Unit of Integración Tecnológica Empresarial (ITE) joined forces to test the use of drones in different use cases of interest to airlines.
Following the progress achieved in July, ITE, together with Sense Aeronautics —a partner specialized in Artificial Intelligence for video analysis—, has recently completed a second successful series of tests of the implemented solution at the British Airways Maintenance Centre in Cardiff Airport, the capital of Wales.
Our drones carry out a second aircraft inspection
Four main objectives for applying drones:
- Aircraft inspection for maintenance purposes.
- General Visual Inspection (GVI) on arrival and departure.
- FOD detection.
- Ice detection and analysis for de-icing operations.
The developed solution will enhance efficiency and performance in airport operations, as well as awareness, quality, and safety through the digital transformation of maintenance activities. Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence are key to achieving these results, enabling technical staff to work with accurate and traceable data and procedures.
