ITE-30TD Reverse Osmosis Plants (NOC: 4620-33-213-2606)
Two ITE-30TD reverse osmosis plants have been installed, each with a 30-tonne daily production capacity. Designed by Integración Tecnológica Empresarial (ITE), these plants convert seawater into potable water with a conductivity below 400 µS, complying with the required quality standards onboard.
The Spanish Navy’s Frigate ‘Reina Sofía’ (F-84), part of the Santa María class, has undergone a modernisation programme focused on improving its freshwater production systems.
As part of this initiative, two ITE-30TD reverse osmosis plants have been installed, each with a 30-tonne daily production capacity. Designed by Integración Tecnológica Empresarial (ITE), these plants convert seawater into potable water with a conductivity below 400 µS, complying with the required quality standards onboard.
A key feature of these plants is their compact footprint, optimising space-saving solutions—a critical factor in naval engineering. Each plant includes two 8-inch spiral-wound membranes, known for their easy maintenance and long service life.
Additionally, these units are shock-certified under the MIL-STD-810-F standard, ensuring resilience and operational reliability even under extreme conditions, making them ideal for naval operations.
The modernisation of the ‘Reina Sofía’ with these advanced osmosis plants enhances the ship’s autonomy and efficiency in freshwater production. This upgrade reinforces its capability for extended missions, such as its recent participation in Operation Atalanta in the Indian Ocean.
